Designers at Copenhagen Fashion Week gave us our earliest clues - from fresh ways to wear pink and heritage check, to elevated padded jackets and a whole new way to approach après-ski.
AS the world’s happiest people, it’s fair to say Danes know a thing or two about enjoying life.
In Copenhagen, a steady pragmatism prevails, whether it’s cultivating an atmosphere of cosy warmth in the year’s coldest months (hygge) or taking a simpler, more function-focused approach to getting dressed.
When it comes to the latter, merely look to their shoes: pliable trainers and solid fussbett sandals outnumber dress shoes - which makes sense, given that more than half the city’s residents cycle.
Clever layering makes the often inclement weather all the more bearable, too. “We only do what we like,” Ditte Reffstrup, Gannicreative director, tells Vogue. “We do what we want to wear ourselves.” That’s an approach we can all take on board in the new year. Here are the takeaways to note from the autumn/winter 2018 shows at Copenhagen Fashion Week.
